Rutendo Trust partners with Karanda Mission Hospital, about 200 kilometres (120 miles), from the capitol of Harare, in a remote area of northern Zimbabwe near to Mount Darwin.
Karanda was established in 1961 to meet the needs of mission stations in the Zambezi River valley first as churches, and then, as the abundant health care challenges were seen, small dispensaries/clinics were developed followed by the hospital.

The hospital is licensed for 150 beds and on an average work day sees between 15–30 surgeries and 200–300 outpatients.
The hospital's in-patient capacity is 90% full most of the time and some of the treatments include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, obstetrics and hydrocephalus.
Karanda performs over 4,000 surgical cases annually and has two full time surgeons (a General surgeon and an OBGYN), and a little help from some visitors. In addition to the two surgeons, Karanda also has a Physician’s assistant and a General practitioner .
During parts of the year Karanda also has 2 interns from the University of Zimbabwe and medical volunteers from overseas. The patient population is drawn from the entire country as people seek affordable, reliable, compassionate healthcare.
The Karanda Primary School is a small school developed for the purpose of providing a quality education for the children of the hospital staff.
It is also an opportunity to build into the lives of the children, not just academically, but spiritually and emotionally. They have Bible classes every day and take every opportunity to share the Gospel and disciple the children. This is seen this as an opportunity to grow strong leaders for the future church in Zimbabwe.
The school uses a local government correspondence course for the curriculum with classes from grades one through seven. The school year runs from mid January to early December with three terms of three months each and a month break between each term.
They are often looking for teachers to help in the school. Qualified teachers are very desirable, but not absolutely necessary. It is similar to a homeschool situation and those who have experience in home schooling would also be very valuable.
